It is very common when towing or drag racing to want to lock the torque converter so it doesn't slip, similar to how a manual acts in gear. Locking the TCC allows you to actively engine brake, eliminate slip on a hard WOT pull so full torque is transferred to the tires and not "soaked up" by the converter, and most importantly will help lower transmission temps while heavy towing. Just the lock up switch mod most guys do, will let you manually lock in 3rd and 4th, but not in 2nd gear without valvebody modifications. This is a great alternative to the DIY JB-Weld solution most do to acquire 2nd gear lockup abilities.
